About the Book

We were so grateful to celebrate the launch of soлomiya No. 2 in Kyiv on 29 March. Our co-found Helena Melikov took the 24-hour train to Kyiv from Berlin with soлomiya’s co-founder, the photographer Sebastian Wells. The event took place at The Naked Room, a gallery and bookstore aimed at showcasing underrepresented up-and-coming Ukrainian artists, where a crowd of friends and readers gathered to look through the magazine’s second volume. Even the Berlin-based designers were present on Zoom.

Soлomiya is an artist-made magazine that showcases the Ukrainian cultural scene amidst the grief and hope of war. To be able to celebrate it in community with one another was such a comfort, and the energy in the room was both uplifting and warm.
