Book Launch -
»The Cure«

On March 7, 2024, the launch of our new book »The Cure« by Julie Legouez took place at Galerie Kollaborativ in Berlin. Manz guests came together to celebrate the artist and her work.

The evening at Galerie Kollaborativ was surrounded by a special atmosphere. In an artist talk, Legouez explained the concept of her book and gave visitors insights into the creative process.

Parallel to the publication of the book, Legouez presented her solo exhibition »My Happy Place.« The exhibition, which ran from March 8 to April 8, showed further works by the artist that deal with the subject of domestic violence.

»A highly political topic that rarely finds space in art. It’s nice that someone is talking about it for once.«
Julia MeyerBrehm, art historian and curator

»The Cure« is an important book that addresses a topic that is still far too rarely discussed in public. Legouez’s courage in sharing her own experiences can give strength and hope to other people affected by domestic violence.

SHIFT BOOKS is proud to publish this important book.

»The lovingly designed book The Cure tells the story of a detachment from a toxic love relationship. Julie Legouez artistically condenses diary entries and documentary archive material into a multi-layered portrait of gender-specific psychological and physical experiences of violence. Intense, disturbing and insightful, because it quickly becomes clear that it’s about more than a personal fate!«
Katharina Schilling, art historian and curator at Haus am Lützowplatz
