We accompanied the presentation of Tierra sin Agua by Ana Rodríguez Heinlein at the AFF Gallery with a pop-up exhibition and an artist talk.
A completely different kind of road trip. Ana Rodríguez Heinlein reported on this at the presentation of her publication Tierra sin Agua: Over the course of a summer, she independently documented the water crisis in Andalusia, southern Spain. She met with stakeholders from nature conservation and agriculture, villagers who had to leave their homes, and initiatives working to revitalize the parched land.

Tierra sin Agua manages to convey a powerful message in soft colors that sustainably shows us that even we – despite the spatial distance – are directly affected by the consequences: because a large part of our fruit and vegetables comes from areas where water scarcity has long since become structural. With images, texts, and notes from a travel diary, Rodríguez Heinlein creates a complex narrative that illustrates how closely environment, culture, and responsibility are intertwined.

The book presentation at the AFF Gallery was accompanied by a pop-up exhibition of photographic works and an artist talk with Maidje Meergans.
