Junge Fotobücher – wie viel Leidenschaft kann man sich leisten?

Young photo books – how much passion can one afford?

A conversation with young photographers about sustainability, passion and the financing of photobooks.

As part of the Triennial of Photography Hamburg Expanded and accompanying the group exhibition ruled by touch by Teresa Pistorius, Melina Papageorgiou, Annemie Martin, Jana Kießer and Hien Hoàng, we talked together about sustainability, passion and financing of photobooks.

Together with photographers Annemie Martin and Jana Kießer, we published their first joint photo book, Von Kartoffelrosen und brennenden Baumkronen (Of Potato Roses and Burning Tree Crowns), in 2021.

The series reflects the altered everyday life during the Corona pandemic in the form of a photographic dialogue with personal texts. Mostly 800 kilometers apart – Annemie spent a large part of the pandemic on an island in Lake Constance, Jana in Berlin – the two photographers conducted this dialogue for more than a year.
